al. plata better stay home because it is false alarm, I talked to the person who bought 700 pcs of small peso and it was a cleaned salvaged coin. He bought it for 780 pesos each at 4:30 pm yesterday (March 30, 2011).

I was thinking of saving enough money and disposing my ugly coins to have ample funds so I can buy some USA Gold Coins. I just want to make sure that it is really authentic and if possible with papers. Some gold coins encountered here seems to be questionable. And the Internet seems to be for rich people only as the prices are too steep and unaffordable. Can you post some data on USA Gold Coins and their prices (please include only USA official mint and exclude private mints). Thank you very much. i always buy gold and silver coins directly from the u.s. mint. about 99% of it. why?. because it is directly from the u.s. government. all coins come with certificate of authenticity and beautiful design box. you can exchange or return it if you feel something wrong or damage. and most of the u.s. collectors did that. i make some 10 million peso from it. now it is up to you to select what kind of gold coin you like to buy and collect. classic or modern. newest or older issues. premium attached or bullion wise. american or international. proof or uncirculated. now if you buy it from the philippines. mostly were be inferior quality. but it should be cheaper than u.s.a. to buy any coins from u.s.a. you have to pay heavy freight charges and maybe the philiipine custom will charge you taxes. i don't know. ask some people in the philippines about custom taxes or maybe free. or the best way is that you have relatives in u.s. willing to buy it for you and bring it to the philiipines.

try to check the u.s. mint. website is usmint.gov or usmint.com well. if you need data and prices. of course i can help you that. i have all the books and catalogs. i also known to the american thru forums. i give a lot of data and analysis. but it is too many. the only way is you propose some that you willing to buy it in the future. and then let's analyze it. hope you get some view from me.

if you have the coins shipped, customs will put a 10% rate of duty (they will place it under numismatic items) + 12% vat on your coins.

Easiest (and cheapest) way to bring in coins from the US is to have someone hand carry the items. you do not need to declare these items because they are legal tender and as long as you don't have a total amount above USD10k you are good.

with about 24% taxes and heavy freight charges. for gold coin. this is terrible. better let some one bring it to you. or simply just buy it from the philippines. a lot of people have older classic coins. and they don't know about it. and willing to sell them. that is the time you can get a good deal and make some money. right?. for silver coin. maybe you can. because the profit margin is high. the premium attached is high. and the buy and sell gap is also high. but the value of the silver coin is much lower than gold. well. i never try to do this. luckily i am now lived in u.s. and for many years. and fortunately. i like and always buy u.s. coins. that's where the action is. millions of millions coin collectors here. the center of coin collection. opps. maybe future is different. china is catching up.

very difficult to find uncirculated american eagles or canadian maple leafs here. I have only seen a few maple leafs (actual coin), american eagles only on the internet (on ebay) and never seen african kreugerand here in the philippines.

Even the silver versions of the eagles and maple leafs are getting hard to come by here in the philippines.

wow. that's mean that the international collectors prefer the rectangular shape of gold bar. like credit swisse. but the american like anything round shape like the circulating coins. rectangular gold bar tend to be a bullion forever. while the round shape might add some premium in the future. due to many american collectors. for me. it is better to own round gold than rectangle. but since the international collectors were very few as compare to american. that will be the main reason for it.

the 2011 american eagle silver dollar is costing somewhere around $43.40 each. or 1,877.05 peso. based on 43.25 exchange rate. and the shipping charge is a lot. so usually collectors buy more. like 100 pc at $42.40 each. or $4,240.00 or 183,380.00 peso. so that the shipping charge will be the same at around $12.95. or 560.09 peso. if you buy one piece only. it will then cost you 2,437.14.

here is one of the marcos 5,000.00 gold coin selling in america. it is selling at 144,570.91 peso plus shipping charge. and it must be a personal check or bank wire. or else 3% additional for using credit card. this is new for many online or stores by using credit cards. additional charges will then be imposed.

silver at $37.83 and exchange rate at 43.25 to one dollar. so one ounce of silver will cost 1,636.15. if i am now in the philippines. i am willing to buy at these prices. that will be my dream.

the american silver eagles cost around 2k at the moment with the local dealers but they are still difficult to find.

Me nabalitaan ako na 750php ang buying ni Albino sa mga 50 centavos...totoo kaya yon???

Sa paglilibot ko sa Recto area...ang dami kong nakikitang mga fake na 1903-1905 one peso...kinakalawang siya. Meron bang fake na big one peso na gawa sa copper...wala pa kasi akong nakikita. Pero meron na akong nakitang fake na Morgan dollar na gawa sa silver...naalala ko tuloy yung mga fake na seated liberty halves.
