US-PI One Peso Hoard ngayon sa Quiapo

Meron hoard ng mga AU at Unc na mga one peso coin ngayon kina Mang Totoy at de Jesus. Kahapon lang nabili...at meron pang susunod na isang sako pa pagbalik nuong nagbenta.

Meron siyang 100+pcs na mga 1903-1905 one peso coin ngayon. Yung mga 1907-1912 na nabili kahapon ay halos 800pcs. Madami rin siyang mga 1903-1905 na mga 50 centavos. At ang dami niya ring mga AU-Unc na mga 1918-1921 na 50 centavos.

Benta niya ng mga Au at Unc na 1911 at 1912 one peso ay 2.8k lang.

Yung mga gustong mag-upgrade ng collection...pumunta na lang kayo ngayon doon.

magkano benta sa mga 1903-1905 peso coins? baka magpabili ako sa mga pupunta sa inyo.

i called up de jesus and he said they don't have any 1903-1905s. he said they were able to buy 800pcs of the small peso coins. 1907-1910s only though and only in F condition.

Mang totoy said yesterday he only had 4 pcs of the 1911s.

The number of small peso coins are 700 pcs only and they are all salvaged (cleaned) according to the person who bought to Mang Totoy. If it's true that they were AU-UNC 850 pesos for the small peso it is very cheap! Mang Totoy had a very wide network and he can contact collectors. That news is false alarm.

Bakit kaya nila nililihim pa na maraming Unc doon sa hoard...ayaw siguro nilang bumababa ang presyo katulad noong lumabas ang hoard ng mga uncirculated 50 centavos na Alfonso na naging 120-150php lang???

Yung mga small peso ay napunta kina de jesus dahil sila ang naglabas ng pera. Kay Mang Totoy natira yung mga 1903-1905 na mga one peso at 50 centavos, at yung mga 1911-1912 one peso.

Kung ang claim ni de jesus ay 700pcs na one peso lang ang napunta sa kaniya...tapos ang exact number na nabili ni Mang Totoy ay 767pcs...ibig sabihin kaya nuon ay meron 67pcs na 1911 at 1912 one peso coins???

@ Newbie, na verify mo ba yang information na yan? Just keep in mind that Mang Totoy is a business man and he ran his business for more or less than 2 decades. He will not sell the UNC Alfonso 50 cents for 150 pesos only and other AU-UNC at lower price. As I've mentioned before that Mang Totoy has a wide network of collectors and dealers. He will offer his AU-UNC coins to collectors/dealers with the highest bid. And I talked to someone that he is willing to buy at Php 1500 each AU-UNC 1907-08 coin. I know who bought the the said 700 pcs. of Mang Totoy. No US PI coin dated 1903-1905.

@Newbie malaking epekto sa mga coin dealers / collectors yang ganyang mga figure na inilalabas mo, lalo na may darating na auction sa April 3 baka makaapekto yang price mo.

i talked to mang totoy and de jesus this morning. they both said there was in fact a hoard of coins but all were from 1907-1910.

they both said that there were no 1911 or 1912s or any of the bigger pesos.

de jesus said the 1907-1908 he is currently selling at 850/piece. Im not sure how much mang totoy sells the 1907/08 but will try to find out this afternoon.

The issue with coin grading estimates may be problematic.. some looks at beautiful coins as "uncirculated" including Mang Totoy sometimes, as I already experienced it with my dealings with him.. several coins I get from Quiapo were really Uncirculated like the problems coins (one very pretty side, brilliant with mint shine while the other side was dark and ugly) how will you define it? Anyway, "newbie" must just be impressed with some pretty coins, specially if it were more beautiful than what he previously saw and deemed it "uncirculated".. I would refer to other collectors, or good dealers like Mr. Ray De Jesus and Mr. Jun Cuartero, both are quite straight in telling you if the coins are Fine, Very Fine, Extra Fine, AU or Unc... we must all learn and share information to help those in the dark...

Ang dali lang malaman kung kung Unc yung mga coins...nakasalansan yung mga coins ng tig-20pcs tapos ay nakahilera siya...kitang-kita mo yung mga uncirculated dahil lustrous yung reedings niya sa gilid. Tingin nga ni Ed doon ay BU. Karamihan nga ng mga uncirculated na US-PI na mabibili mo ngayon ay hindi lustrous yung reedings...mga BU lang ang kadalasan na lustrous din ang reedings.

Tingin ko ay gusto lang nilang ipakita yon sa mga preferred customer nila or sa matatagal na nilang customer. Katulad din ni Paos...sa preferred customer lang niya pinapakita yung mga coins na naiipon sa pag direct buying ng precious metals.


@Paulit-ulit...nabili ni Mang Totoy yung mga Alfonso kay Peter ng 80php lang kaya tubo pa rin siya sa 150php. Ang tagal ngang maubos yung mga Alfonso...naubos lang dahil pinakyaw ng Kano. Namamahalan nga ako sa 150php kaya isa lang ang binili ko...saka naisip ko na 60php lang ang G-F na mga Isabel ni Mang Tony. 4Dollars per Oz pa lang ang silver nuon.

Napakaswerte nina Mang Totoy at de jesus...ang dali lang kumita ng pera para sa kanila.

i passed by mang totoy today and bought some coins from him. there were some coins that were cleaned already but the details are still sharp. didn't see any au/unc coins though and all the coins he showed me were previously cleaned.

I encountered a coin that is very nice 1903 and I still have it today. It also came from Mang Totoy and I bought it for 650 about ten years ago (mahal bili ko noon). It was dark and dirty but do not have any marks or ugly scratches whatever. I have it cleaned by a friend who is a jeweler., it was very beautiful and the fire he used made it very shiny. But it can not be compared with an uncirculated coin I saw in an auction. The true Unciculated coin has a mint shine and cartwheel effect that is the main difference.. and this is my basis for rating a coin uncirculated.. if a coin has been cleaned it can be rated only as far up as AU..

no. a clean coin is a bullion coin.

Ang meaning sa akin ng "cleaned coin" ay yung mga coin na ginamitan ng abrasives or chemical para maalis ang dumi. Pero kung binabad mo lang sa tubig at sabon ay hindi ko kino-consider na cleaned coin ang mga yon..sa isip ko kasi ay malinis naman talaga sa simula ang mga coin na bagong mint.

Kino-consider ko na damaged coin ang mga cleaned coin na ginamitan ng acid tapos ay naging puting-puti at wala na yung natural color niya.

here are the list of condition:

worst = holed, bent, slick.

cull = off quality, cull, damaged, cleaned, polished.

almost/about good = AG

good = G

very gold = VG

fine = F

very fine = VF

extra fine = XF

almost/about unc = AU

uncirculated = UNC

brilliant unc = BU

for perfect and slabbed coins: some of the designated condition.
such as ultra cameo, first day of issue, first strike, early release, etc.
