| Hi Mga Sirs, I never realized that such a note existed til yesterday, when a friend brought it up in topic. Curious, I've done a little Google search and found this site CLICK HERE. At first, It looked authentic to me, with its gold printed silk casing and all, til' some1 said that it lack BSP imprints to be considered a banknote. But others saw dozens of these being sold at eBay with astonishing prices, claiming it to be rare commemorative. Is this true? or just a collectible which being used as a scam? where it could have originated? Need your expert opinions... thanks po in advance! | |

| can't find any hard evidence to verify the authenticity of the golden erap banknote. it's actually possible for anyone to just get a photoshopped picture of a 1000 peso note to be engraved on a thin gold foil. i saw one place in some mall (i forgot) where you can get your picture "printed" on a flat gold-plated disk to be used as a pendant for a necklace or bracelet.
but then again, we're talking about erap here. erap's the kind of guy who would do this kind of stuff. it's his style. rumor has it that these notes were only given to close friends of erap (read cronies). it totally makes sense if you look at the "salamat" overprint on it. there's a big chance that the note does exist but as a BSP recognized commemorative, i think not.
anyways, here's singapore's take on the 1000 golden banknote. sweet.

anyways, here's singapore's take on the 1000 golden banknote. sweet. Hello, I think you are talking about "Metazza"??? (place in some mall) As for the gold-plated note, hmm. Erap is the ninong in my cousin's wedding, his gift includes a rare erap banknote. But I cannot confirm if it is this 1000 or if it is the 2000 commemorative note. I can't verify with my cousin since we are not close (he is not in my facebook hahaha).

| yup. that's the place. metazza. thanks!
now the general consensus among numismatists is that the gold plated erap banknote indeed exists but only for personal use of joseph estrada to be given to close friends and family. this note was not issued by BSP as a commemorative and thus can't be used as legal tender. technically, it's just a nice piece of jewelry which looks like a banknote. it's actual price may be determined by the amount of gold put into it, that is if the gold plating on it is actually real.
still a cool "banknote", though. something i wouldn't mind including into my collection. but if i have to lose a limb to get one, then no thanks. i'd rather get a 500 victory. :p
