Not yet I have not seen the A in the notes. But I do notice your 100,000 bills. I wish I could just see one in person.

| To Kanor, Sorry I cannot include a picture, my P.C. is not working and the laptop I'm using is not hooked up to my scanner. The notes a normal 20 piso with the dates having an "A" on the end. To walangpera, It's good to see the P100000, but NOT good to own one if you're a collector....All that money and you can't spend any of it! | |

| I have found out the 2009A notes I spotted were a misprint in an auction catalogue, it seems the only "A" notes are the 2008A P20 and the 2010A P100. Can ANYONE tell my why the hell did they put an "A" in the date?????? | |

| Its possible that the plate of the 100 Php 2010A was copied from the 20 Php 2010 A plate. | |

That is possible but you have to ask "why did they put an "A" on the P20 in the first place. I can't work it out, I have seen P20's 2008 & 2008A with the exact same serial number.

| "A" means replacement of the previous bank notes due to error. Those bank notes that did not pass the quality control of the central bank that is why they put an A | |

Wouldn't faulty or notes not up to stsnded be replaced by a "replacement note" (starnote)?

| You are right, there are no 2009A notes, only 8A and 10A. The 2009a notes I mentioned in the topic title turned out to be an auction catalogue misprint. The big question is... Why the bloody hell did they put an "A" in the date? If anyone knows why, I wish they would let the rest of us know! | |

| The serial number on Philippine banknotes consists of two (2) alpha and six numerics per denomination. The total number of banknotes per denomination that can be printed with SN A0000001 to SN ZZ1000000 is 600 million pieces. When the actual production of banknotes per denomination exceeds 600 million pieces, the suffix A is added after the year mark in order to avoid duplication of the serial number.” | |

| Hi Aqamano, Thanks for your help working out what's going on with these "A" numbers. BUT, if the serial numbers run from A - ZZ (minus the I's and O's), that means after reaching 2008 "ZZ" we start again with 2008A "A". When we look at the 2008A notes we see the "A" prefix and prefix's down to "AR", then no 2008A prefix's until "XG". All I can ask is....Where are the 2008A notes in between "AR" and "XG"? | |
