| Hi!
Going through some of the coins I horded in last few years, I found this interesting one.
It is a 25 centavo coin, 1998, looks like any other 25 centavo coin, except that is is silver, or more appropriate, looks like it was made form the metal used in the 1 peso.
Anybody know anything about this particular coin? | |

| I also saw one. my cousin showed it to me. it is not silver it has a silvery luster. I think that i was "tinubog" electroplated in gold or silver or other alloys or metals and it is used at wedding ornaments especially the "aras" wedding coins.
I saw an "aras" at a wedding and it contains several 1970 25 cents that are plated. | |

| I thought I just got a new discovery...a 10 Peso Coin with a 25centavos coin in the middle...someone is replacing the middle part with 25 centavos coins. I think it's related to the belief that the middle part of 2000-2001 10 peso coins is made of gold. | |

| Don't have a weighing scale but it is definitely not copper. I have been seeing this type of coin even in other dates. | |

| This 25 centavo that you are suspecting to be a "white" metal is still a brass. But it has been dipped by a strong acid or a corrosive chemical before and so the outer layer of the metal tends to corrode and changed color. Try to smell the coin. If it has a distinctive odor similar that of a copper, then your mystery solves.

| yes, i came across that website as well when researching. I emailed them before but they wouldn't tell me the composition of the coin or its origin. I've gotten replies from other people i've emailed but replies i've gotten vary regarding the composition. some would say its nickel, copper-nickel or silver. | |

| Im not that good in MC in coin guess estimate it is Cuni or silver clad. Cuni with plated of silver.
Maybe it come from Malta and other info on it. | |

| brother eric... most gold coins issued during Marcos time are rare here in our country.. just look at the coin auctions, they are seldom offered for sale and usually high priced.. it is unlike the Span-Phil gold coins that are regularly offered in these auctions, although also high priced.. | |
