| Hi FN, am also NOT a Pnas member but interested to be. Aside from the auction, are there booths, stalls or tables offering other coins that can be purchased? (cash on hand basis) What would be the best time (to look around, and buy a few coins here and there) for a Non-member like me, to visit on September 20th? Thanks! | |

| Hi elaine 1970,
Nice of you to drop by at this forum. My apology if I only replied to your query today. The recent typhoon brought a devastating blow to the whole Metro Manila which affected our power supply and other utilities.
By the way, PNAS office is located at Don Manuel Heights, Sta. Mesa, Quezon City. You may contact me at my mobile phone at 09054682750 if you have other questions.
Thank you very much.

| thank for replying me. tell us if the philippines silver coins minted during 1944 and 1945 were re-strike for use during 1946 - 1957. i remembered during 1950's. i used to change rolls of uncirculated silver coins every year. how that can be?. and all were dated 1944 or 1945. are those coins minted every year with 1944 or 1945 are re-strike?. why?. tell us. and thanks again. | |

| i hope the philippine government or the central bank of the philippines will produce bullion uncirculated silver one ounce coin each year. the size, thickness, weight and diameter will be similar to the american eagle. we can call it philippine eagle. obverse using the 1903 obverse silver peso design. and the back or reverse using the philippine eagle together with its philippine seal or central bank seal. remember we are also a producing gold and silver country. australia and china can do it. we hope we can do it too. and i also remembered during 1975 - 1982. we did produced a series of silver and gold commemorative coins. p.s. a proof version for collectors is also welcome. | |

| Based on my research, the US mint never released re-strikes of 1944 - 45 coins. In fact, theses were not even released to the public due to the sudden declaration of Philippine Independence in 1946, the reason why most of these coins can still be found in uncirculated condition. The US mint otherwise produced coins for the Philippines dating 1946 using the same design however, all were melted except for an unconfirmed report that some staffs of the mint received samples for souvenirs though, not a single coin had surfaced for the past 50 years. The BSP have minted silver and gold coins even recently. However, most have not been documented by collectors and remains unknown to the public. Like for example, medal coins which commemorate the Opening of Malampaya pipeline in 2001 which I featured in one article on the blog section of this site. Kindly read that and I hope you'll find it interesting. Thank you very much again. FN | |
