wow, that is really nice. Now the hard one is the gold.

I am happy with what I have and not looking forward to acquire the gold piece as this is way out of my budget and only 3 known to exist.

There are more than 5 currently known to exist. It has been discussed by PCF last year. Ask Ray Czahor for more details in regards to the gold Wilson dollar.

More than 5! Is this by word of mouth or documented? According to latest Lyman Allen's 6th edition book there is only 3 of this gold coin.

There is an American collector who recently died and had 2 wilson gold in his collection, not sure if that makes 5, but What I remember Ray saying, out of 3 his friend had 2 in his possesion when he died.

I went back to my archive email and found this from Ray Czahor, however I still want to know if this is recorded anywhere.

A number of you may have known Bill Pahl who was living in Florida after retiring from the Marines 14 years ago. Bill passed away suddenly at age 55 on March 1st of lung and bone cancer. He was survived by his wife Nida and one brother. Bill loved collecting Philippine Tokens and Medals in addition to Boy Scout Memorabila. Bill bought the first Gold Wilson I had the pleasure to handle about ten years ago. Few knew that he bought a second Gold Wilson a few months later. What a thrill to own two of the RAREST Gold pieces from the Philippines since the number known is estimated to be 5-10 pieces!! The two pieces were graded by NGC as MS61s though I thought both were much nicer than that. Both were sold over the last 18 months to other Philippine collectors.

So it is 5 to 10 pieces.

Hey laki sa layaw maybe those 2 wilson gold are for sale or in auction. Check Ray about it so you can complete your wilson dollar.

is the copper lacquered?

Silver (HK-449) and copper (HK-450) specimens of the Wilson dollar are also scarce. One of the five gold pieces was presented to President Woodrow Wilson, one to the U.S. Secretary of War, and three were retained in the Philippines (and lost during World War II). Heritage offered a different gold Wilson dollar in our February 2008 Medals and Tokens Signature auction, as lot 81185, but that piece had a mount removed from its edge. This example is unimpaired, and may be the only such pristine remaining gold example.”

3 weeks ago. not an amazing coin like the wilson but i was pretty pleased with this one. i got a good price for it.

just bought 20 american spouse 1/2 ounce 24K gold before u.s. mint hike its price.
