I look at my collection and compare my earlier coins with the latter ones I got from reputable coin stores and several coin auctions which are informally "graded" (although locally, it is quite reliable since it is in accordance with accepted standards and done by people who knows the trade very well). I noticed that it is usual for the Phil-Am series to have one side beautiful than the other side. One thing I also noticed is that some of these coins, specifically the Manila minted issues have weaker strikes although you can very well see that the coins are in almost uncirculated conditions, thus because of that, will not be graded higher unless considered as "error" mints. Personally, I assess a coin by comparison and give my coin a lesser grade.
