When I started this hobby, I was very excited whenever another coin not in my collection came along. I immediately get it without any consideration. That is because it is a newcomer's weakness, to get coins as soon as possible. Now, I have several coins that I consider ugly (salvaged or junk coins, damaged and / or corroded coins, defaced coins, coins with dents and scratches and even a coin with lettering etched into it). I had already given away those that have holes in it (coins used as amulets, pendants and whatever). I just became aware when I visited a coin auction and I realized that there are nice and beautiful coins out there. A friend older and wiser told me to be patient and chose well, and further suggest that those "ugly coins" which can be invested upon are only whenever and if they are included in rare and most sought after coins.. And always remember that old saying "Patience is a Virtue... Good Luck to all collectors.
