Bakit kaya na-slab ang isang coin na na-pickled???

Manila 1830, the 1828 Manila Counterstamped coins had 4 steps process
1. Annealing -process of softening the coins by heating them inside a furnace/oven in order to alter ductility or malleability of the silver.
2. Hammering and Flattening -from the furnace, each coin was hammered down against an anvilto flatten it in order to remove the legend. tthis process made the coin's diameter bigger but with thinner thickness.
3. Die Stamping- is the imprinting of each coin at a time, was fed manually into the pile (lower die with royal coat of arms) and the trussel (upper die with Manila 1828), after which the screw press handles were turned by workers to impress the design.
4. Pickling and washing - after re-stamping, coins were put in a mild acid to clean and washed with water.

On the reverse the "E" in POR El Rey should have a crossbar in the middle of the E. The "1" and the "2" in 1828 is not a typical of other 1 and 2s in other 1828s. Just get 2 pictures of other specimen manila 1828s and compare. The host coin is genuine hence it was graded by pcgs. If the host coin had been fake it would not have been graded by pcgs.

Dati ay akala ko ay mahirap mahirap gumawa ng DIE pero nuong makakita ako ng gumagawa ng die gamit ang isang computer at tooling machine ay hindi na...madali lang pala. Ibang-iba sa una kong nakita na gumagamit ng malaking model ng coin para makapaggawa ng die.

The problem with modern day dies are they are too perfect and well detailed. The process of manufacturing coins nowadays uses pneumatic press which produce even and uniform coins. Counterstamp coins during the 1830's are not well detailed, well struck, not uniform, and imperfect because the stamping was done manually, with little care, and the dies itself not well manufactured. The reason why counterstamp coins are not well struck, well detailed, and varies from one specimen to another.
