Let's call a spade a SPADE Empty
PostSubject: Let's call a spade a SPADE   Let's call a spade a SPADE EmptySat Mar 05, 2011 10:36 pm

In the auction held at the Tropical Hut in Quezon City last Feb 27, 2011, two lots were presented as ERROR

LOT 361

2002 20 Pesos Arroyo Buenaventura SN#VJ999999 and
1999 20 Pesos Estrada Buenaventura SN#VJ1000000 2 pcs error UNC

Lot 362

1999 100 Pesos Estrada Buenaventura SN#KU999999 and
1998 100 Pesos Estrada Singson SN#KU1000000 2pcs. error UNC

ARE THESE REALLY ERRONEOUS NOTES?

Was this authenticated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas?

Such that whether:
The banknote 1999 20 Pesos Estrada Buenaventura SN# VJ999999 exist or not?

The banknote 2002 20 Pesos Arroyo Buenaventura SN# VJ1000000 exist or not?

The banknote 1998 100 Pesos Estrada Buenaventura SN# KU 999999 exist or not?

The banknote 1999 100 Pesos Estrada Buenaventura SN# KU1000000 exits or not?

The notes, I believe, are genuine; but to claim that they are ERROR notes confused

– that’s another story.

PostSubject: Re: Let's call a spade a SPADE   Let's call a spade a SPADE EmptyMon Mar 07, 2011 6:19 pm

G'day GoldenCowry, I think you might be right about these notes. I have a pair of 1985 P5's, NP999999 & NP1000000. they should both have Cuisia signatures but they don't. The notes you mention are Dated notes, so these were printed nearly 20 years later than mine. I have seen so many, and of so many denominations that they cannot be a natural error.
For many years I have suspected (I might add without any proof) that someone inside the print shop has been printing these "errors" for sale to collectors, a sort of "value added product". This would also explain the huge amount of cut and print errors that get smuggled out of the Security Printing Plant (strange use of the word "security").
BUT, when one looks at the amount of errors on the new notes, it's easy to see there is no quality control whatsoever at the BSP, so these could also be real errors......But I doubt it!
