Coin Stores Empty
PostSubject: Coin Stores   Coin Stores EmptyFri Nov 19, 2010 7:50 am

Friends ask me where do I get my coins. It started from a very few pieces given to me and then I started buying one coin once in a while. Sometimes relatives, neighbors and friends offers me their coins and I just choose what I like but when it is given free, you just accept it, even if that coin is not part of the collection. Nowadays, I try to buy (a piece or more) every month. I try to go and look everywhere there are advertised coin stores. I visited that store at Robinsons Place Manila but coins cost a lot. This stall at Green Hills, a bit expensive but you can have a very large choice of coins. Another place at Mega Mall, where the coins are also priced high but sometimes they also give out bargains. Then there is this De Jesus store in Mendiola where I find prices of the coins acceptable but most of the times I can not find the coins I want. Please post any other coin store you know out here in Metro Manila. Thanks everybody.

Thanks for your post.

What I would like to find is a few reputable dealers willing to buy gold and silver coins.

I have a few GAE's, Maple's, Krug's, SAE's, and pre 1963 90% junk.

I would like to translate some of that into paper money from time to time.

Thanks

PoP

i usually buy coins from ghills, megamall or at sm north edsa. some i buy from ebay.

the 3 places above are pretty expensive but they usually give additional discounts if you buy from them often. (even more if you buy a lot)

Whenever there are new friends met at coin auctions, I usually ask where they get their coins or if there are any coin stores they know. And I find it overwhelming that there are too many being mentioned. Last Sunday for example at the coin auction, some places were identified by other people and I just can not remember it all. This Sunday I will bring a notebook and list it all down and post it here after I had verified its location. Thanks for the verification by Eric Go about the coin store at SM North, I heard it but I just can not locate it and I gave up. But now i will try to locate it tomorrow. Thanks to everybody.

The coin store at SM North Edsa is located at the Parking Building behind the Main SM Mall, at the northern end of the ground floor. It is World Treasures Antiques Enterprises (name on the receipt they issued to me when I bought something). There are a lot of coins and other items for coin collectors.

This coin auction for Sunday, December 12, 2010 will be held at Tropical Hut (2nd Floor) along Scout Borromeo Street, Quezon City (in front of National Book Store), behind Mercury Drugstore which is located along Quezon Avenue. Invitations were handed out by a very good person named Mr. Ray, during a coin auction last November 28 and another coin auction held last December 5... Viewing of lots will start at 9:00 am, Auction starts at 1:00 pm. I will be there at around 11:00 am and try to look for you. Please come along and many friendly people would be there, cordial and easy to get along. Plus there will be a lot of individuals who bring interesting things..

Hi,
I've been lurking this site for quite a few weeks now.
I understand that there were 'invitations' given during the last auction, I was wondering if 'invitations' are needed in order to join the auction? I'm looking for some relatively easy to find coins and would like to drop by if outsiders are allowed to bid. Many thanks.

That will be nice. I'm actually looking for some US coins. I have seen the list for the last auction but only found less than a handful. Hopefully there will be more this time. Thanks.

The coin auction held yesterday was facilitated by Mr. Rey De Jesus who is known as the proprietor of the De Jesus Coin Store in front of San Sebastian College in Mendiola, Manila. The auctioneer calling out the bids was Mr. Jun C. who happens to manage the coin store at the 2nd Level (furniture area) at Green Hills Shopping Mall. Some of the coins / items were won by foreigners, which although good for the auction was very alarming for us Filipinos as these treasures would surely get out of the country and probably be lost forever from us. As usual there were many people and interesting items. I took home a dozen items (five coins won from the auction and the rest from friends and individuals who offered their own items). The next coin auction will be next year (January) so I will just try to go around Metro Manila and see more coin stores ..

hopefully i will be able to meet some of the people here at a future coin auction. the last few auctions happened on days when i wasn't available due to prior obligations. al.plata, i agree with what you posted about foreigners buying local coins. In north america that they have quite a bit of philippine coins and surprisingly they sell the coins really cheap.

Hehe its fun to read that the foreigner are bringing the coins out of the country. I know 6 foreigners who are leaving here in the philippines who collect philippine coins /stamps and other things.

I´am one of them. I am interessted in Philippine History and have three Children. One of my biggest wish for my future plans is to give each of my Children if they are old enough a peace of history. I belive there are more coins coming over ebay.com back to the philippines than some collectors bringing out of the country.
